Rift Valley
Land at Kilimanjaro and bypass the city. You are driven straight to the edge of the Great Rift Valley, watching the landscape shift from urban to untamed as you settle into a lodge perched high above the escarpment.
A beautiful introductory drive through rural Tanzanian villages, culminating in a dramatic ascent up the wall of the Great Rift Valley.
A highly focused game drive inside the caldera, prioritizing the spotting of the highly endangered black rhino and the famous large-tusked elephants that roam the crater floor.
Serengeti Plains
Today is an epic journey of scale. We depart the highlands and drive the length of the Serengeti, transitioning from the short grass plains all the way to the rugged, rocky outcrops of the North. It is a full day of transitioning landscapes, showing you the sheer, breathtaking vastness of the wild.
Mara River
A thrilling, high-stakes game drive focused entirely on anticipating and witnessing the Great Migration herds as they attempt the perilous crossing of the Mara River.
Northern Serengeti
With the river crossings checked off, we spend a slower day exploring the beautiful Kuria Hills and Kogatende kopjes. Because you are solo, you have the flexibility to stay out all day with a packed lunch, focusing on the big cats that shadow the migrating herds.
Launch before dawn and float silently above the Mara River and the sprawling herds. Upon landing, celebrate with a luxurious champagne breakfast set up in the middle of the Serengeti plains.
Heading back Home
Watch the Northern Serengeti wake up one last time. You will board a bush plane directly from the Kogatende airstrip, soaring over the plains you just conquered, connecting seamlessly with your international departure.
A final, crisp morning drive to the airstrip, offering one last opportunity to spot predators returning from their night hunts before you take to the skies.
A secluded treetop sanctuary in Lake Manyara, blending refined luxury with immersive forest tranquility and privacy.
Perched on the crater’s edge, offering dramatic views and an intimate, authentic safari experience in Africa’s wild heart.
A remote Serengeti hideaway where understated luxury meets raw wilderness along the Mara River ecosystem and beyond.

Northern Tanzania

Preparing for your journey with East Africa Safari Guides ensures that your transition into the heartof the wild—and onto the shores of the Indian Ocean—is as smooth as the savannah breeze. Please review the following requirements to ensure a seamless entry into Tanzania and Kenya
Passport & Visa Requirement
Passport Validity:
Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your intended departure date. Ensure you have at least three (3) blank visa pages to accommodate entry and exit stamps for both the mainland and island territories.
Tanzania & Zanzibar (Including Pemba & Mafia):
All U.S. and Canadian passport holders require a tourist visa for entry. While Tanzania and Zanzibar share federal immigration status, the islands maintain their own entry checkpoints.
Host Information (when prompted):
Host: East Africa Safari Guides Ltd.
Address: 11512, Levolosi, Arusha – Tanzania
Contact: +255 753 744 283 / +255 757 149 848, info@easguides.travel
Kenya Entry (Electronic Travel Authority):
Kenya has replaced traditional visas with an Electronic Travel Authority (eTA). All travelers, including infants and children, must obtain an eTA via etakenya.go.ke prior to departure.
Health & Wellness
Vaccinations & Malaria: East Africa is a malaria-endemic region. We recommend consulting a travel medicine specialist at least 8 weeks prior to travel to discuss prophylaxis (such as Malarone).
Yellow Fever Protocols: A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required if you are arriving from a country with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission (including a transit of more than 12 hours). If you are flying directly from Europe or North America into Tanzania, the vaccine is generally not required but is often recommended. Note: Proof of vaccination is frequently checked when flying between Nairobi and Arusha, or when arriving in Zanzibar from certain regions.
Special Considerations for the Islands (Zanzibar, Pemba & Mafia)
The islands offer a different pace and set of customs than the mainland.
Marine & Conservation Fees
Exploring the pristine waters of our marine parks requires specific daily conservation permits. These fees directly support the preservation of our coral reefs and the livelihoods of local fishing communities.
Mafia Island Marine Park:
Visitors staying within the Marine Park boundaries (the Utende area) or visiting the Whale Shark zones must pay a daily conservation fee.
Pemba (Misali Island & Pemba Channel):
As of late 2025, the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has updated its fee structure for protected marine areas.
Mandatory Zanzibar Inbound Travel Insurance
All international visitors entering the Zanzibar Archipelago (including Unguja, Pemba, and Mafia) must hold a mandatory insurance policy issued by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC). This is a government requirement regardless of any existing global travel insurance you may hold.
Traveling with Families & Children
For our guests traveling with younger explorers, East Africa is a magnificent classroom.
Professional Advice for the Discerning Traveler
A Note on “Island Time”: While East Africa Safari Guides maintains rigorous standards of punctuality, the islands of Pemba and Mafia operate on a gentler rhythm. We invite you to embrace this “Pole Pole” (slowly, slowly) philosophy the moment you step off the plane.
