Our today’s Crater Rim Walk Route

Morning Walk Description

Start your day with a leisurely 3-hour walk at 8 am, an essential part of the Entamanu experience. There's no better way to immerse yourself in the stunning terrain than by exploring on foot. Park your vehicle near Seneto and soak in the incredible vistas as you stroll with your Maasai guide. Walk at your own pace and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.

To your right, the breathtaking Crater Bowl unfolds its wonders as you draw closer to camp. The majestic Gol Mountains and Ol Balbal Depression come into view, offering a spectacular sight. Binoculars are a must-have for this experience.

You can't beat starting your day with a stroll out of camp, enjoying the fresh morning air and stunning views. After this amazing walk, take a short lunch break in the wilderness.

Proceed to Maasai Boma Visit

Let's head over to the Maasai Boma for a visit! A Boma is a Maasai homestead, and they are just as much a part of the beautiful Ngorongoro scenery as the wildlife. What could be better than going for a stroll and making some new friends?

Our Maasai neighbors are one of the highlights of this stunning wilderness area, and we feel so fortunate to be able to share their home with them. Learning about their culture and way of life truly adds depth to the Entamanu experience; you'll be warmly welcomed and get a glimpse into a whole other world.

After enjoying a delicious lunch, we'll set off on a walk down the hill through the lush, thick, green bush.

We'll stick to the open road until we reach the end of the Acacia Forest, and then we can cut across the highland plains to reach the Boma. If we're visiting in the dry season, we'll follow the ancient Maasai cattle paths through the Acacia Forest.

Both paths offer stunning views of Maasai villages scattered along the northern edge of the Crater. As you trek along, you'll come across lush hillsides, the Ol Balbal Depression and the vast Serengeti plains stretching out endlessly.

When you reach the Boma, the locals will warmly welcome you into their centuries-old community. If you're up for it, you can hike back up the hill and relax at our sundowner spot to cheers to a day well spent. Or, if you're feeling ready to go, hop back on your ride right from the Boma. Life's good in these highlands.
