Itineraries > Wellness Safari > The 7-Day Southern Digital Detox
In an era defined by constant notifications and screen time, true luxury is the ability to entirely unplug. This itinerary takes you to the remote, untamed Southern Circuit of Tanzania—Ruaha and Nyerere National Parks. Here, Wi-Fi is scarce, the crowds are non-existent, and the only sounds are the roar of lions and the flow of the river.
This is a deep nature-immersive wellness safari. You will trade screens for the stars, and engine noise for the quiet crunch of boots on the earth during walking safaris. It is a powerful, transformative reset designed for those who need to step beyond the reach of the ordinary to find themselves again.

Ruaha
Fly directly from Dar es Salaam into Ruaha National Park. The landscape is raw, hot, and intensely beautiful. You are staying in a lodge masterfully built into massive granite boulders. For three days, you will leave your devices in your room and immerse yourself in the rugged beauty of Tanzania’s best-kept secret.
Leave the 4×4 behind. Walk the dry riverbeds with an armed senior guide, learning to read the micro-ecosystems of the bush and focusing entirely on the present moment.
Experience a deeply relaxing massage in an open-air spa suite integrated into the ancient boulders, feeling the natural energy of the stone and the breeze of the valley.
Nyerere
A short flight delivers you to Nyerere National Park (formerly the Selous), Africa’s largest protected reserve. The landscape shifts drastically from dry earth to a labyrinth of emerald lakes and rivers. The ultimate meditation here is the flow of water, as you spend your days drifting silently past hippos and crocodiles.
Navigate the Rufiji River on a private, motorized boat. This serene, water-based safari offers an incredibly intimate, quiet perspective on the wildlife that relies on the river.
Spend a relaxed afternoon fishing for Tiger Fish in the untouched waterways, enjoying the repetitive, mindful focus required by the sport.
Spend a night in a luxurious, elevated “star bed,” sleeping safely outdoors under a canopy of millions of stars, completely disconnected from the digital world.
Heading Back Home
Enjoy a quiet, slow breakfast listening to the haunting call of the African fish eagle before boarding your return flight, your mind clear and your internal battery completely recharged.
A slow, unhurried morning spent on your private deck, journaling or simply savoring the sounds of the waking bush one last time before your flight to Dar es Salaam.
An intimate Ruaha hideaway offering raw wilderness, privacy, and refined safari comfort.
A riverside retreat blending untamed landscapes with immersive, classic safari experiences.

Wellness Safari
Anyone from 5 to 70+ years old
7 Days 6 Nights
Southern Tanzania
Relaxed to Moderate
Preparing for your journey with East Africa Safari Guides ensures that your transition into the heartof the wild—and onto the shores of the Indian Ocean—is as smooth as the savannah breeze. Please review the following requirements to ensure a seamless entry into Tanzania and Kenya
Passport & Visa Requirement
Passport Validity:
Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your intended departure date. Ensure you have at least three (3) blank visa pages to accommodate entry and exit stamps for both the mainland and island territories.
Tanzania & Zanzibar (Including Pemba & Mafia):
All U.S. and Canadian passport holders require a tourist visa for entry. While Tanzania and Zanzibar share federal immigration status, the islands maintain their own entry checkpoints.
Host Information (when prompted):
Host: East Africa Safari Guides Ltd.
Address: 11512, Levolosi, Arusha – Tanzania
Contact: +255 753 744 283 / +255 757 149 848, info@easguides.travel
Kenya Entry (Electronic Travel Authority):
Kenya has replaced traditional visas with an Electronic Travel Authority (eTA). All travelers, including infants and children, must obtain an eTA via etakenya.go.ke prior to departure.
Health & Wellness
Vaccinations & Malaria: East Africa is a malaria-endemic region. We recommend consulting a travel medicine specialist at least 8 weeks prior to travel to discuss prophylaxis (such as Malarone).
Yellow Fever Protocols: A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required if you are arriving from a country with a risk of Yellow Fever transmission (including a transit of more than 12 hours). If you are flying directly from Europe or North America into Tanzania, the vaccine is generally not required but is often recommended. Note: Proof of vaccination is frequently checked when flying between Nairobi and Arusha, or when arriving in Zanzibar from certain regions.
Special Considerations for the Islands (Zanzibar, Pemba & Mafia)
The islands offer a different pace and set of customs than the mainland.
Marine & Conservation Fees
Exploring the pristine waters of our marine parks requires specific daily conservation permits. These fees directly support the preservation of our coral reefs and the livelihoods of local fishing communities.
Mafia Island Marine Park:
Visitors staying within the Marine Park boundaries (the Utende area) or visiting the Whale Shark zones must pay a daily conservation fee.
Pemba (Misali Island & Pemba Channel):
As of late 2025, the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar has updated its fee structure for protected marine areas.
Mandatory Zanzibar Inbound Travel Insurance
All international visitors entering the Zanzibar Archipelago (including Unguja, Pemba, and Mafia) must hold a mandatory insurance policy issued by the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC). This is a government requirement regardless of any existing global travel insurance you may hold.
Traveling with Families & Children
For our guests traveling with younger explorers, East Africa is a magnificent classroom.
Professional Advice for the Discerning Traveler
A Note on “Island Time”: While East Africa Safari Guides maintains rigorous standards of punctuality, the islands of Pemba and Mafia operate on a gentler rhythm. We invite you to embrace this “Pole Pole” (slowly, slowly) philosophy the moment you step off the plane.
