8-Day Serengeti Walking Safari 2025/2026

Whether you have been to Africa sometimes or not, Serengeti walking safari for your coming trip is a must to include. Unlike other experiences that are commonly done by many, this experience is a few select since the walking safari is conducted by a few companies that have been given permission by the park authority. Consider this excursion while planning your coming African safari adventure.

Start Planning

Taking your family or loved ones on a Serengeti walking safari 2025/2026 is among the best experiences you will ever have. To ensure you spend the most out of your time in this magnificent park in Africa, I have compiled helpful information and included a sample safari itinerary to get a glimpse of your trip. To make things easier, I have also included a button with a link for you to connect with our travel designer to start planning when you are ready.

Walking Safari in Serengeti National Park

Experience the Serengeti’s beauty on a peaceful trekking safari. Get close to nature and see wildlife up close. Our walks aim to take you to places usually unused by other tourists, so you can spend all your days without encountering any tourist vehicles.

Explore vast landscapes, rolling hills, and streams. Admire the acacia forests and iconic kopjes. Walking safaris will either take place in the morning or afternoon, depending on the route and your preference, and will be preceded by a short drive to the starting point. A coffee or sundowners stop is included in the experience.

Will I see Great Migration while on Trekking Safari?

Serengeti is a top African safari destination, and its selling point is the Great Wildebeest Migration. During this trip, we will bring you closer to the migration patterns so you can encounter more significant groups of heads while on the walk. Our guides and authoritative rangers are experts on this. They will guide you to adhere to the wilderness rules and tactics that will keep you safe. While in Serengeti National Park, you can jump on a balloon ride to explore the migration from a bird’s eye view.

Things to consider while on Serengeti walking safari

  • You must be 12 or older to participate in this Serengeti walking safari 2025/26.
  • Walking safaris should be planned at least two weeks before your arrival to ensure seamless arrangements.
  • Each walk will be tailored to accommodate your particular requirements and fitness levels.
  • You are supposed to wear closed shoes and neutral clothing.
  • Walking safaris offer excellent wildlife photography opportunities, so bring your camera.

How the program would be

This eight-day Serengeti walking safari 2025/26 tour aims to give you a complete African adventure experience. We start by utilizing four nights of fly camping, during which you will typically traverse the untouched eastern plains of Serengeti on foot from one camp to another. Since no permanent accommodation exists, we use a small, easy-to-carry camp. The Walking Safari Camp is cozy and in beautiful spots.

The other four nights will be spent on the Serengeti western corridor at Mila Permanent Tented Camp, during which you will have short and long walks and other safari add-ons.

Trekking Itinerary

Our safari designers meticulously craft this safari program to bring the travel that impacts your adrenaline sense of adventure. It is a program to intensify the strong bond between your family or friends by taking yourself in the middle of nowhere. Since the driving distance from Arusha, the starting point of your adventure to Serengeti, takes almost an 8-hour drive, we expertly advise you to fly directly on the first and last day of the adventure.

Day 1: Arrive in Arusha

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our airport pickup guide will be ready to welcome you to Tanzania for the first time after the long-haul flight. Grab snacks, coffee, or a cold drink while stretching your legs before hopping on the comfortable van to Arusha town. The transfer is only one and a half hours long.

Day 2: Local Flight from Arusha to Serengeti National Park

Safaris usually start with a flight from Arusha to Serengeti and then straight to camp for a quick briefing. After arriving, you can enjoy an afternoon or evening walk with drinks as the sun sets, a freshly cooked dinner over an open fire, and an early bedtime for an early start the next day.

The camp usually moves every other day so guests can explore different areas. In some organized trekking challenges, where you trek from one point to another over multiple days, the camp moves daily to keep up with the adventure.

Day 3: Serengeti Walking Safari

Start your Serengeti walking safari 2025/26 along the Orange River, heading northeast. We’ll cross the river and explore rock kopjes. You might see wildlife in the forests and plains.

The crew will whip up a delicious breakfast before heading out on your walk with the guide and National Park Ranger. They’ll then pack up camp, move it to a new spot, and have lunch waiting for you when you arrive. The rest of the day is about kicking back, reading, and enjoying the scenery. There’s also a leisurely afternoon/evening walk planned for when the sun cools down a bit.

Serengeti Walking Safari

These treks have a calming effect on guests, helping everyone become more serene and observant with each passing day. Walking lets you take in all the little details – from unique grasses to tiny insects and animal tracks. What you can discover is terrific when you slow down and pay attention.

Stay overnight at the Wayo Serengeti Walking Camp.

Day 4: Serengeti Walking Safari

We will continue our African savannah trek through the Serengeti’s stunning views, passing through forests and open plains. Our camp will be set up in a cozy forest.

For the night, check out the Wayo Serengeti Walking Camp in its new spot.

Day 5: Serengeti Walking Safari

Enjoy the authentic trekking safari after breakfast last morning with Wayo Africa. The short morning stroll will take you to incredible vistas that will ensure you drop your jaws. Your lunch table will be set up somewhere in the middle of the bush, where you will enjoy the delicious culinary art from our five-star-rated chef.

This is the last day to bid farewell to the Wayo Africa’s crew members and hop on your 4×4 Landcruiser safari jeep to start a journey to Mila Permanent Tented Camp.

Day 6 & 7: Walking at Mila Tented Camp

Join us on a journey to discover the true spirit of ‘True. Wild. Free.’ Explore the outdoors with a guide who knows the land well. As you stroll along, take a moment to learn more about the flora and fauna in the area. Be amazed by the stunning views and get close to wildlife.

When overnight at Mila Tented Camp, you may take advantage of many amenities that surround you without ignoring the presence of a walking safari. In the 21st Century’s travel style, sustainability is everything from economic and social while going deeper into self-impact.

Mila Tented Camp – Serengeti

It is recommended to take some short steps of almost 10,000 per day. To fully take advantage of all the safari experiences, including the game drives, bush picnics, and walking safaris, we recommend a minimum stay of 3 nights in this property.

By putting this into action, you can indulge in the longest route in Mila Tented Camp, which dials up the adventure by taking you into the uncharted territory between the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers. Far from the nearest roads and camps, this remote route offers a glimpse of the true wild, where animals roam undisturbed by crowds of tourists. Summit rolling hills, enjoy the views of the surrounding landscape, and stop for coffee or sundowners along the way.

Route Distance: (3.5/4hr walk, 8-10 km)

Camp Facilities

The camp has five tents that can be converted into double, twin, and triple rooms, and one family tent comprised of two tented rooms interconnected through a shared lounge, ideal for family and friends traveling together.

Day 8: Departure

The last day in Serengeti National Park. After enjoying your breakfast, a driver guide will take you to the nearest airstrip, Grumeti or Seronera, to catch a flight back to Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your connecting flight back home.

Rates

For a mobile walking camp, budget $800 – $1,000 per person daily out-of-park fees and local flights. This will allow you to visit a new campsite each night, making your trip exciting.

Plan a stay at Mila Tented Camp for $1800 – $2000 per person daily out-of-park fees and local flights.

Your itinerary will include a skilled walking guide, comfy accommodations at Wayo Africa Walking Camp and Mila Tented Camp, meals, drinks, park fees, and transport. We also provide a backup vehicle at the campsite. Enjoy a stress-free and memorable Serengeti walking safari 2025/26 with us!
